I am a wife, mother of three children, grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, working professional, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus Christ. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the young age of eleven. I know now God had his hand on my life even then. The Father so graciously and strategically, placed a minister, Min. Thompson, one block to the left of our garden apartment, whose spiritual leadership blessed my family. Ms. Carter, an Evangelist, a few blocks in front of the apartment, adopted me as one of her daughters in Christ and introduced me to worship in spirit and truth. And then, there was a Christian bookstore one block to the right of us.
Although I had several Christian influences at a young age, there is one believer I will never forget, David, a Maranatha Christian Bookstore worker. David would often let the kids from the playground come into the bookstore, out of the humid summer days. He would sit us in a circle and read us Bible stories while on his lunch break. David would tell us about the love of God and about Jesus Christ, his death for our sins and his resurrection. Through these workers of Christ and attendance at our local church, I grew to understand the saving grace of God and desired Christ to be my Lord and Savior.
Though over 40 years ago, I remember the summer day and the very moment I kneeled in my living room, opened the big white Bible on the living room table and prayed that God would forgive me for my sins and asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I immediately began to weep and thanked God for saving me. I truly felt the love of the Father wash over me and will never forget that moment. I then began to pray that the Father would save my brother (who was a few years younger than me) and to protect my mother. This is also the very moment I became an intercessor and I haven’t ceased interceding for others to this day.
The Father has continued to preserve, protect and transform me since the day I first kneeled before him. He has graced me to lead others to Christ, and to serve in many assignments such as Director of Children’s Church, Church Secretary, Women’s Ministry Lead, and Intercessory Prayer Ministry over the last 40 years. I thank God for this season in my life and my new kingdom assignment, “Beloved". I believe there is no greater time than now for believers to encourage one another and build each other up in the love of Christ.
I am thankful to my mother who told me as a young child to “never let go of Jesus,” and to the pastors, ministers, teachers, evangelists, prayer warriors, and all the servants of Christ who have poured into my life and encouraged me in my faith walk over the years.
To God Be the Glory!
